🌍 Compact Slovenian AZ Design
Interest in the Slovenian AZ hive has grown worldwide thanks to its ergonomic rear-access system. Instead of opening the hive from above, the beekeeper works from the back, reducing physical strain and minimizing disturbance to the bees.
Traditionally used inside bee houses, AZ hives provide additional protection from wind, direct sunlight, and temperature fluctuations — helping maintain a stable environment for developing colonies.
🌲 How the AZ NUC Hive Works
The NUC hive follows the same functional principles as full-size Slovenian AZ hives but in a smaller and more compact format.
The structure includes two sections separated by a queen excluder:
• Lower section — brood chamber
• Upper section — honey or expansion space
Each level has its own entrance, allowing flexible colony management depending on strength and seasonal conditions.
When the rear door is opened, frames slide out horizontally like books from a shelf. Proper bee space is maintained using a slotted rack system at the front and removable rear panel.
Frames rest on crosswise metal rods, ensuring smooth handling and minimal wear.
